Born in Fall River, son of the late Henry A. Saravo, Sr. and the late Helen C. (Whitecavage) Saravo, he was a lifelong resident of Fall River and a graduate of Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School. He was employed as an electrician for the Fall River Housing Authority, retiring in November 2013.
Joe was a member of the Loggia Vittorio Veneto #1035 Order of Sons of Italy in America, IBEW, Elks Club and St. Anne’s Fellowship. Active in the Columbus Park Little League, as a coach, umpire and a member of the board of directors, he also served as a district administrator for the Fall River Little League. For a period of time he also coached Holy Name Church CYO.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons: Matthew A. Saravo and Marc A. Saravo both of Fall River, a daughter: Jennifer M. Correia and her husband Richard of Fall River, a granddaughter: Mikayla A. Saravo and a grandson: Luke Correia. He was brother of the late Henry A. Saravo, Jr.
His funeral will take place on Monday, February 10, 2014 at 9AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT CHERRY PLACE, 178 Winter St., Fall River followed by a funeral mass at 10AM in Holy Rosary Chapel, 120 Beattie Street, Fall River. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Fall River. Visiting hours will be Sunday 2-5PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Sons of Italy Scholarship Fund, c/o of Pres.
