Obituary of Laura E. Redmond
Laura E. (McMurray) Redmond, 63, passed away peacefully at home with her family on Tuesday, September 20th, 2022. Laura was born in Fall River, MA and was the daughter of the late Loretta A. (McDonald) McMurray and George H. McMurray. She was raised in Rockville Center, NY before moving back to Fall River, MA with her family. She spent much of her younger years traveling between Rockville Center, Fall River, and Westport; a time she remembered fondly, spending summers with her beloved sisters and cousins. A graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, Class of 1976, Laura worked as a Real Estate Agent for Salt Marsh Realty for many years. She loved helping families find the home that fit them best. She was kind, patient, and generous; always going above and beyond for her clients. Laura was an incredible advocate for her community and was never afraid to stand up for the needs of her neighborhood. This desire for action came to fruition when the ribbon was cut on the new and improved Highland Park in 2013. Laura, along with other integral members of the community, championed this cause for many years prior to the park’s enhancement. However, Laura’s most-treasured accomplishment and greatest joy was that of being Mom and Grammy. She gave us a life full of love and adventure and we will miss her fiercely. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Joseph P. Redmond of Fall River, MA; her daughter; Leigh Redmond and her husband Alex Souza of Westport, MA; her son Sean Redmond and his partner Kim Zolnierz of Fairhaven, MA; her sisters; Lisa Silvia of Little Compton, RI, and Linda Harold of Carndonagh, Ireland; her pride and joy, her grandson; Dylan Redmond, as well as her grandpups, and many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Her visiting hours will be held on Friday, September 30, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00PM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St. Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited. Her Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 10:00AM in St. Thomas More Church, 386 Luther Ave., Somerset. Contributions in her honor may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Burial private.
