

Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Richard and Margaret Mary (Devine) Wilson, she lived in Fall River most of her life, summered at South Shore in Little Compton for 20 years, moving to Somerset in 1999.
Mrs. Burns was Secretary for the Vice Chancellor for Student Services at Southeastern Massachusetts University, now UMASS Dartmouth, from 1983 until her retirement in 1991. Prior, she had been Secretary for the Dean of the Division of Continuing Studies from 1966 to 1983.
She was a communicant of St. Thomas More Church, and a former communicant of St. Joseph’s and St. Mary’s Cathedral where she was a member of the Women’s Guild. She attended B.M.C. Durfee High School and was a graduate of Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School, class of 1944.
Mrs. Burns was a volunteer at St. Anne’s Hospital and at Hope House in Fall River. She was a member of the Swansea Couples Bowling League for several years and a former member of the Corky Row Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by three sons; Daniel J. Burns and his companion Sue, Jeffrey A. Burns and wife Cynthia, and Thomas M. Burns and wife Mari, all of Westport, one sister; Edith Wilson Sullivan of Fall River, grandchildren; Kara, Michael, Corey, and Nolan Burns, and several nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late James, Richard, and George Wilson.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Memorial Service on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at 11 AM in St. Thomas More Church, 386 Luther Ave., Somerset.
