Maria Isabel Barbosa

Born in Capelas, São Miguel, Açores, she was a daughter of the late João I. and Silvana (Pereira) Sousa.

Mrs. Barbosa had worked as a finisher at Santoro Manufacturing in Fall River. Previously, she was employed at Escola da Matriz in São Miguel, Açores.

She was a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality at St. Michael Church in Fall River.

Survivors include her children, Liberio Barbosa and wife Guilhermina, Salvina Rego and husband Antonio all of Somerset, Hermano Barbosa and wife Graça of Capelas, Osvalda Medeiros, Maria de Lourdes Carvalho and husband Paulo, Jesse Barbosa and wife Linda all of Fall River, 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late João Barbosa, mother-in-law of the late Sandra Barbosa and Miguel Medeiros and grandmother of the late Sgt. Peter C. Rego, US Army. She is also survived by a sister, Lucilia Cabral and a daughter-in-law, Ilda Barbosa both of Fall River.

Her Funeral will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 8:30 am from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT CHERRY PLACE, 178 Winter St., Fall River followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30 am in St. Michael Church, 189 Essex St., Fall River. Visiting hours Friday 5-8 pm. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
