Maria Fernanda Lopes, age 66, of Fall River, passed away Monday, May 11, 2015 in St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford. She was the wife of Jose Coelho to whom she has been married for the past 12 years.
Born in Ponta Delgada, Azores, Portugal, a daughter of the late Joao DeAlmeida and Idalina Almeida, she immigrated to the United States fifty years ago and lived in East Boston prior to moving to Fall River. In addition to being a homemaker, she was a communicant of Santo Cristo Church. She enjoyed watching soap operas, listening to music, and cooking.
In addition to her husband she is survived by one daughter: Mary Barbosa, one son: Robert Lopes both of East Boston, one step-daughter: Natalia Silva and her husband Mario of Fall River, one grandson: Christopher Barbosa, three step-granddaughters: Sara Marquez and her husband Guilmer, Tamara and Victoria Silva, two step great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Her visiting hours will be held on Friday, May 15, 2015 from 5:00 to 8:00PM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at CHERRY PLACE, 178 Winter St., Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial private.
