My mom said you were a beautiful person.  I wish I had gotten to know you. Rest in Love, Grandma.

My dearest Grandma,
How are you? 
I’m sorry it took so long to write to you. 
You had such an influential presence in our lives, that each day becomes harder and harder to imagine a lifetime without you.
Thank you for your kindness, wisdom, strength, patience, and unconditional love. 
I will never regret the excitement I felt with every trip we took to visit you and the visits you  made to see us. Especially the three years you spent living with us. 
These memories I will treasure the most. 
How can one say good bye to an icon such as yourself? So alas, I will say I wish you well. 
I know you are reunited with your family: smiling and joyful. I know you are looking down on us everyday with a sense of pride that each one of your children and grandchildren had fulfilled your dreams for them. 
I know God received a one of a kind Angel on Dec. 4, so I know you are in good hands. 
I want you to also know that no matter what, my love for you and others will never stop growing; as you taught me so many times. 
I miss you so much grandma! See you soon! Take good care of her God! 

My last  fond memory of my dearest Aunt was back in September 2015.  I went to dinner at her house with Tania.  It was nice seeing some of my cousins that I usually don’t get to see. I  remember Annette being so happy,  family was visiting her and having a good time. She was a remarkable lady. Strong in her Faith , dedication and love for her family always.  You will truly be miss.  No more pain, sleep in peace my  dearest  Aunt. Please know that the family is in my thoughts and prayers. My sincerest condolences for an incredible great loss ....  Tina

Grandma, 

Words cannot describe what you meant to me and the rest of the family. The first time we met was at my college graduation and made a huge impact on my life. The conversations we had was priceless. Talked about your journey and hardships, as well as the joys of life. We would joke about taking you out to dance and having a good time. You will be missed but never forgotten. A true pillar of strength and a heart of gold.

Grandma, 

I miss you ever so dearly. There is so much I would give to have another moment of penciling in your eyebrows or chasing after you in the rain. They didn’t always come out right in theory but they always looked right on you. You never missed an opportunity to call me “belle tifi” when you saw me getting dressed for work. You were always there to witness whatever creative project I was working on, and you stood back and admired it in awe. I will always remember how you would wait for me by the window at the daycare for me to pick you up. Your eyes would light up when you saw my car and you’d wave patiently as I made my way up the ramp. I’d give you a kiss on the cheek and you would tell me how your day was as we walked back to the car. You would always try to open the door before I unlocked it and I’d have to tell you that it was locked. I can laugh reminiscing on the times you would sit on the edge of my bed at 4 am, and surround yourself in my sheets until I would wake up because you were confused. Whenever I cried, you held me until I would stop and would tell me everything would be okay. I can still hear you calling me “petite moune.” 

My grandmother was a beautiful and free-spirit. She gave love to everyone she came in contact with. She touched every soul she ever met, from cashiers to parishioners to the daycare administrators. She took life just the way it was given to her, with no complaints. My grandma was the strongest person I knew and she would always put up a good fight. She was completely selfless and countlessly put others before herself. She taught me the importance of independence, education, and faith. She lit up every room, constantly making jokes and silly faces.  I only hope to live up to half of the person she was. 

Despite all the sadness, it brings me joy to know that you are in a better place now and without suffering. I love you more than you could ever imagine. I will continue to honor you in the best that I can.

I was so sorry to hear about your mother's passing.  I only met her once at the beauty contest that your daughter entered at Taunton High. Your mother was a lovely woman. She had such dignity.

I wish you hope in the midst of sorrow, comfort in the midst of pain.

My dearest sister Jina, although I didn't have the opportunity to meet your mother I feel connected to her because you shared so many of her life’s stories with me. I was so saddened to hear of your loss of the matriarch of your family!  Please know that you and your family are in my prayers during this time. Andrew and I are sending condolences and much love to my sister Jina and my adorable nieces and nephew in this time of loss.  There are no words that can alleviate the pain and sadness at this time, nor should there be. The sadness is a representation of the close relationship between the family and the now departed Queen Marie, and its burden must be borne.  But fortunately, it is borne intermittently with pride and smiles and laughter as you recall Queen Marie's love, wisdom, strength, determination, and joy that she shared with you.  I am sharing a photo of Queen Marie at the 2019 Miss Taunton event  in which her intelligent, beautiful, and talented granddaughter Hermance participated - like grandmother, like granddaughter.

Undoubtedly, Queen Marie's legacy includes all of her children and grandchildren who revered and cared for her - characteristics that are outward signs of decent people.  I am honored to have witnessed the tender care provided by my sister Jina and her clan to Queen Marie.  My family did the same for our parents, and I am reminded today of my father's words while he lived with us his last years:  "Because I am with you, I am already in heaven."  I believe that Queen Marie, too, was already in heaven with Jina in Massachusetts.   May God continue to shine his light upon you, especially through this period of sadness.

Mother was very courageous. She had 7 children and at least 12 grandchildren. She was always there for me when ever I needed her:  to comfort me most of the time, to listen to me and be with me when I got a surgery or gave birth to my 2 daughters, without judging me. She was a true mother and will be missed a lot! 

My deepest sympathy to the Darbouze family. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you mourn the departure of your dear mother. May the great memories be a source of comfort that you can draw from during your time of sorrow.

Marie Therese Annette Darbouze, words cannot describe your legacy. You have spent your life in this world being an icon of beauty, style, and grace. As the goddess that you were, everything seems much more dim now that you are gone. Everyday, even while you suffered from dementia, you would consistently put others first. This eternal commitment to altruism is one of the innumerable aspects of you I will hold deep in my heart. Grandma, my beacon of light, it does not feel real that you are gone. But that in and of itself is a blessing, as it shows that you will live on within our hearts forever. Our memories of you will never expire. As you pass onto this next stage of being, I once more wanted to reiterate how much I love you. Thank you for being such a moving figure in my, and others lives. As your grandson, I will do my best to uphold what you have left behind.

You will be missed everyday. Our lives will never be the same, without seeing you daily. Moving along is like trying to complete a puzzle with a missing piece. The last few years you spent with us was the best time of our lives. While you were here, we carried your load like you did for us back when we were growing up. As a team, we worked our hardest to make sure you were comfortable and happy.

Our mission was incomplete in the end, as your suffering with this unbelievable virus took you away from us forever. Your absence in our lives makes it harder for us to move on. 

As you always wanted, we will stay strong, healthy, and never give up on reaching our goals, even though you will not be there to celebrate our accomplishments; your spirit will.

Thank you so much for all of the things you did for us.
