Born in Fall River, daughter of the late Augustine and Lillian (Stowell) Delahanty, she was a lifelong resident of the city. Mrs. Batchelder worked in cafeterias for the Fall River Public Schools for 21 years, retiring in 1999. She was an active communicant of St. Williams Church - now Holy Trinity Church and a recipient of the Marion Medal in 1978 presented by former Bishop Cronin. She held various offices for the St. William’s Guild: president, vice president and secretary, was a lector and a travel and excursion coordinator.
Surviving in addition to her husband: a daughter: Gail C. Birmingham and her husband Joseph of Fountain Hills AZ, a son: Paul S. Batchelder, Jr. and his wife Lori of Somerset, 2 sisters: Eleanor Demers and her husband Norman of Fall River, Claire Faria and her husband Manuel of Hampton, VA, a brother: John P. Delahanty and his wife Georgeanne of Seattle, WA, 3 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her brother Frank Delahanty and sister Ruth Delahanty.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 9:30 AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT CHERRY PLACE, 178 Winter St. Fall River followed by a funeral mass at 11AM in Holy Trinity Church, 951 Stafford Rd.
