Maureen Timothea Youngberg, 93, of Holliston, MA passed away peacefully on April 25th, 2025 at her home surrounded by the family that loved her. She was the wife of the late Robert C. Youngberg to whom she had been married for 61 blissful years.
Born in Fall River, MA, the daughter of the late Timothy A. and Mae L. Lovett, she was a graduate of the Academy of the Sacred Hearts and later received her bachelor’s degree from Bridgewater State Teacher’s College. Upon completion, she attended Calvin Coolidge College where she received her master’s and doctoral degrees in elementary education.
Timmie, as she was known to family and friends, taught first grade to the fortunate students of the Westall School in Fall River, the Huckleberry Hill School in Lynnfield and the West Parish School in Gloucester, MA. She was adored by her students and parents frequently lobbied to have their children placed in her classroom. She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Beverly, MA where she lived for 37 years before moving to East Sandwich, MA and becoming a communicant of Corpus Christi Parish, also in East Sandwich until 2014.
Timmie gifted her myriad artistic and organizational talents to numerous fund raising and charitable organizations across the North Shore of Boston including St. William’s Guild of St. John’s Preparatory School in Danvers, Salem Children’s Hospital, St. John the Evangelist Church Couple’s Club and the Danvers Garden Club. When she learned family members or close friends were ill or celebrating a significant milestone, she would sketch, write poetry or create an elaborate, photographic collage to support or commemorate the occasion.
In her younger years, she swam, rowed her punt and played endlessly in the yard of her summer cottage on the Hummocks in Portsmouth, RI. She would later graduate to spending afternoons and evenings on the screened-in porch with family, best friends or tackling a good mystery. Timmie forever loved to antique and attend auctions with her husband Bob. In retirement, she savored every single moment spent teaching and playing with her two granddaughters, Cassidy and Shannon. They were undoubtedly the shining lights of her life.
Dr. Youngberg is survived by her son, Dr. Robert L. Youngberg and his wife, Denise Dunne Youngberg, of Charlestown, MA; as well as her two granddaughters, Cassidy Ann Grieco and her husband, Joseph Grieco, also of Charlestown, MA and Shannon Mae Youngberg and her boyfriend, Ryan Krawczyk of Beacon Hill, MA.
Private arrangements are in the care of the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter Street, Fall River, MA. Memorial contributions in her honor may be made to: Sisters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, 35 Huttleston Ave., Fairhaven, MA 02719.
