

Maurice “Moe” Phenix, 81, of Fall River, died peacefully at home on September 10, 2026, surrounded by his beloved family. He was the devoted husband of Pauline “Polly” (Rockett) Phenix. A lifelong resident of Fall River, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Fabien R. and Irene D. Phenix.
Moe attended Monsignor Prevost High School before joining the U.S. Navy in 1965. During that time, he traveled the world on the USS Zellers (DD 777), earning the National Defense Service Medal and getting recognition as a Brigade Commander, a Gemini Recovery Expert (GREX), and a “Bluenose” during the Vietnam Era. Upon returning home, he rejoined the family business at Phenix Aluminum Window Company, a business started by his parents in 1953. Moe eventually took over as owner and operator in 1975 and expanded to include The Stove Shop. Moe loved his work and the community that he served.
In all aspects of life, Moe possessed a calm and quiet demeanor and a generous spirit. He was quick to laugh and happiest when surrounded by his large family. In addition to his wife, he leaves his loving children, Kara P. Gillis of Petaluma, California, David J. Phenix and his wife Nicole of Fall River, Emily A. Phenix of Fall River, and Andrew R. Phenix of Fall River; his cherished grandchildren Nicholas, Annabelle, Nolan, Leo, and Olivia; and his sister Madeleine Rocklein (husband Michael) of Boise, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jacqueline Kennedy (husband Frederick) of Augusta, Georgia. Moe will also be missed by his many adored and supportive cousins, in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 22, 2026 from the hours of 4:00 to 7:00 PM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter Street, Fall River. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at 10:00 AM in Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover Street, Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited and asked to proceed directly to the church and arrive no later than 9:45 AM. Burial will be private.
