Michael J. Silvia
July 22, 1967 – February 12, 2021
Michael J. Silvia, age 53, of Fall River, passed away Friday, February 12, 2021 in St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center. Born in Fairbanks, Alaska, he was the son of Carol (Couto) Silvia of Fall River and the late John J. Silvia.
A graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, Class of 1986, he attended Bristol Community College and studied Substance Abuse Counseling. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy Reserve, called to active duty after September 11th. He later served in the Army National Guard.
Michael worked as Police Officer and an E.M.T for the City of Fall River for many years. An avid outdoorsman, he liked to hunt in Maine, fish in upstate New York and go camping. He enjoyed kayaking, the beach and meditation. He also loved to cook and play the native drum.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his son, Nathan Silvia and his partner Jose Marin of Westport; one brother, Jeffrey Silvia and his partner Hilary Emery of Dartmouth; fiancé Helena DeSousa and her daughter Raquel both of Fall River; two nephews, Cody and Dalton Silvia and one niece, Alina Emery.
His Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 19, 2021 at 10:00AM in Espirito Santo Church, 311 Alden St., Fall River. Relatives and friends invited. Burial private.

I remember being at Uncle John’s pool and Michael would visit with his son Nathan and we’d go swimming in Uncle John’s/ grandpa/dad’s pool.

Michael was a coworker of mine at St lukes Hospital . It was a pleasure having him as a coworker and friend we talked a lot about hunting up in Maine. All though we lost touch when he left do to knee injuries. In short he was a good man and it’s a honor to have call him my friend.
