Paula (Weglowski) Macy, of Fall River, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on July 20, 2025, at the age of 80. She was married for 52 years to Judge Joseph I. Macy, with whom she shared a beautiful family and wonderful life. She was the kindest, sweetest, most patient person you could hope to meet.
Born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Frank F. Weglowski and Helen (Raczkowski) Weglowski, she was a lifelong resident of the city. A graduate of BMC Durfee High School, she earned a bachelor’s degree from Bridgewater State College. She began her career as a 4th grade teacher at Greene Elementary School and after taking time off to raise her family, she resumed teaching as a 7th grade teacher at Morton Middle School. She was also a member of the Fall River Junior League and Vice Chair of the Fall River Library Board.
She loved shopping with her sisters and nieces, a beautiful day at the beach, and enjoying a peach martini expertly made by her daughter Stephanie. She was the consummate hostess, but it was Christmas Eve when she truly shined, bedecking and bedazzling every inch of her home to create magic.
She always looked forward to her annual vacation on Captiva Island, FL, ski trips out West, and when her husband presided on Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket she enjoyed her trips there so much she intrepidly made them via his sailboat.
She will be remembered for her beauty, charm, elegance and warm heart.
Paula is survived by her beloved children, Stephanie J. Macy of Fall River and Peter J. Macy of New York. She leaves behind her sisters, Joan Weglowski of Fall River and Fran Weglowski of Long Meadow, MA, nieces and nephews Joshua Macy, Lynne Chisholm, Greg Flanagan, Kristina Ready, and David Ready as well as nine cherished grand nieces and nephews and her much-loved grand dog Franklin.
Paula was preceded in death by her twin sister Joyce Ready from whom she was inseparable, and her nephew Matthew J. Macy.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 9:00am from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover St., Fall River. Burial will take place in Notre Dame Cemetery in Fall River. Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Flowers are welcome.
