Born in Fall River, a son of the late Peter, Sr. and Barbara (Welch) Cummings, he was a longtime resident of Fall River and Somerset. Pete was a graduate of Bishop Connolly High School. Pete later went on to become a police officer for the City of Fall River, serving the department for more than 25 years prior to his retirement.
Pete loved his family, especially his two grandsons, Aiden and Jamie. Pete enjoyed the quiet life after retirement. He loved to fish, hunt, and go to the range. He was most proud of his Irish heritage. "He was an active member of the Sakonnet Sportsman's Club in which he held the position of Chairman of the Membership Committee."
He is survived by his son Peter Jacob Cummings and his wife Kayla of Swansea and their sons, Aiden and Jameson; his brother Matthew W. Cummings and his wife Julie of Dighton and their sons Matthew "Jacob" and Nathan Cummings. He was the brother and uncle of the late Donna M. Boyd and her son Jack Boyd.

A visitation for Pete will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM in Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter Street, Fall River, MA 02720. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial arrangements will be private.
