Born in Boston, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Charles and Irene (White) Hoenigke. Bob spent his early years in Fall River before making Tiverton his home in 1968, where he built a life filled with family, friendships, and many lasting memories.
A graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, Class of 1961, Bob went on to enjoy a long and dedicated career as a Master Electrician with I.B.E.W. Local 99. He worked for many years before retiring in 2005, taking pride in his work and the career he built.
Bob proudly served in the Massachusetts Army National Guard, was a member of the Knights of Columbus and when his children were young he was an active member of the Tiverton Recreation Committee. He especially enjoyed coaching Tiverton Little League, sharing his love of the game with young players. But those who knew Bob will remember him for much more than his career or community involvement. He was a man who always seemed to have a joke on hand, ready with a quick quip or a bit of humor to bring a smile to someones face. His sense of humor was part of who he was, and he had a way of making everyday moments a little brighter. He will be remembered for the laughter he shared, the memories he created, and the special place he held in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Above all, Bob treasured his family and the life he shared with his beloved wife, Jo-Anne. Their vacations to Ogunquit, Maine, held a special place in his heart, and the happy memories they made there remained a cherished part of their life together.
Bob leaves behind his daughter, Christine C. Homen, and her husband, David; his son, Craig Committo, and his wife, Christine; his beloved granddaughters, Emma and Leah Committo; his sister, Cathy McCormick, and her husband, Michael, all of Tiverton; his brothers, Charles Hoenighe of Florida and Curtis Hoenigke of California; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Johanne Plante, and his beloved wife, Jo-Anne.
Bob leaves behind a legacy of hard work, devotion to family, community spirit, and, perhaps most memorably, laughter. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, who will carry his memory with them and smile whenever they remember one of his jokes.
Private arrangements are in the care of Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, Fall River.
