Sandra-Jane "Sandy" A. Borges

Sandra-Jane A. “Sandy” (Farias) Borges, age 54, of Fall River, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2021 surrounded by her family after a yearlong battle with cancer and many years with arachnoiditis. She was the loving wife of military veteran John R. Borges to whom she was married for 31 years.

Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of Claudia C. (Sullivan) Farias of Fall River and the late August J. Farias, Jr., she was a longtime resident of the city.

A graduate of BMC Durfee High School, Class of 1984. An Office Administrator, she worked for AT&T in Providence and Fairhaven for 31 years before retiring in 2016. She was also certified in medical billing and coding in 2016. Sandy enjoyed camping with family and the “Camping Idiots”, having cookouts and her volunteer work with the Disabled American Veterans at the Brockton VA Medical Center.

In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by two daughters, Brittany Borges of Fall River and Hannah Borges of Fall River; one step-daughter, Stacey Borges; one sister, Kathleen (Farias) Medeiros and her husband Richard; mother-in-law, Alda Borges of Fall River; sister-in-law, Diana Fogg of Fall River; two nieces, Connie and Jessica; great nieces and nephew, Emma, Evan, Ava, and the late Kelly, her two cats, Scratches and Tygga and her dog, Toby.

Her funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 5, 2021 at 10:00 am in Good Shepherd Parish, 1598 S Main St., Fall River. Her Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2021 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River.
