Sharon L. Canuel

Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Judge) Hurley, she was a lifelong resident of the city.

A graduate of the former Mount Saint Mary Academy in Fall River, she worked as a legal administrative assistant and as a bookkeeper at Borden Light Marina for many years.

She was a member of the former St. Jean the Baptiste Parish in Fall River where she was a member of their Women’s Guild and P.T.O. An avid reader, she loved to be by the water. She enjoyed spending time at the marina, going to the beach and traveling especially to Aruba. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved the holidays spending time with family and friends and always enjoyed a good cocktail.

She is survived by one son, Alfred R. “Freddie” Canuel, Jr. and his wife Lucy of Westport; one brother, William J. Hurley and his wife Carol of Lexington, MA; one sister, Joyce Gendreau and her husband Roger of Swansea; two grandchildren, Mitchell W. and Gwenyth R. Canuel both of Westport and several nieces and nephews.

Her Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 from 9:00 to 10:00AM in Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover St., Fall River, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
