
Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Beatrice Bowers and has been a lifelong resident of the city. Ms. Bowers was a graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School and Herrick’s Institute of Business and Civil Service. She was employed in the accounting department with the Fall River Electric Co. for 36 years; starting as a payroll clerk in 1957 and retiring in 1993 as the Senior Plant accountant for EUASC. She was a United States Naval Reservist for 12 years and was one of 13 Fall River women who joined the US Naval Reserve Surface Division in 1949. Her affiliations included the Speakers Bureau of EUA, the BPW & Altrusa Club of Fall River and served as leader of the Wesleyan Circle and President of the Womens Society of Christian Service.
She is survived by her Dear friends Charles and Deborah Mickle of Fall River, Rita Carter of Danvers, MA and Denise Pavao of East Freetown. She was the beloved mother of her cat “Sugar”. Ms. Bowers was also companion, for 25 years, of the late Stephen G. Powszak and step daughter of the late Lillian Bowers.
Her Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 23rd at 12PM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at CHERRY PLACE 178 Winter St., Fall River. Burial will be private.
