Born in Faial, Açores, Portugal, a son of Rogerio Silva and the late Ivone (Bettencourt) Silva, he immigrated to the United States in 1975, settling in Fall River.
He worked as a Manager at Gold Medal Bakery for 44 years. He enjoyed watching sports, and hosting yearly Super Bowl parties. He loved fishing and more recently boating with family and friends. And above all, he loved his family.
He is survived by four daughters, Stephanie Martins and her husband Brian of Westport; Sue-Ann DaSilva of Fall River; Kristin DaSilva and fiancée Marisa Campbell of Fall River; Nicole DaSilva of Fall River; two sisters, Maria Bettencourt and her husband Simon Cueter of Florida; Martha Bettencourt and her husband Joseph of Fall River; one brother-in-law Carlos Ferreira of Westport; five grandchildren, Ava-Lynn Gonsalves, Giselle DaSilva, Sire Viera, Quinn Martins, and Zoe Martins; and several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 02, 2024 at 11:30 AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter Street, Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation is prior to service from 10:00-11:30 AM. Burial will be private. Contributions in his honor may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105.
