

Virginia Ann Martin, “Ginny,” age 90, of Fall River, passed away Friday, July 17, 2026, at Catholic Memorial Home. Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late City Counselor, Leo A. Martin and Ida E. (Levesque) Martin.
A graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, Class of 1953, she worked as a medical transcriptionist at Saint Anne’s Hospital Hudner Oncology Center for many years before retiring. After retirement she worked as a receptionist at the Waring-Sullivan Homes of Memorial Tribute.
Past president of St. Mary’s Cathedral Women’s Guild and the St. Mary’s Cathedral Seniors, she was the former secretary at B.M.C. Durfee High School, Class of 1953 Reunion Committee and their Alumnae Association. Ginny was the recipient of the Marian Medal awarded to her by Bishop George Coleman in 2005.
She is survived by her nephew, Joseph M. D’Adamo; her nieces, Virginia Frank and Nancy Moore and three grandnieces and three grandnephews. She was the sister of the late Helen Ruth Holderness and Kathryn D’Adamo and aunt of the late Thomas J. Holderness, Jr.
Her visitation will be held Friday, July 24, 2026, from 8:15 to 9:15AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St. Fall River, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in St. Mary’s Cathedral, Spring St., Fall River. Relatives and friends invited. Contributions in her honor may be made to St. Mary’s Cathedral, 327 Second St., Fall River, MA 02721. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
