

Entertaining storyteller and loved to be on/in the water
Walter P. Munro, “Flash,” age 80, a lifelong resident of Bristol and a Texas snowbird for the last 10 Years, died peacefully at his daughter’s home in Westport, MA, on December 4th surrounded by his loving family following a short battle with brain cancer.
He was a PROUD veteran of the Korean War and served with the US Army.
He was the husband of the late Germaine C. (Gauthier) Munro, to whom he had been married for 44 years.
Born in Bristol, he was the oldest son of the late Walter H. Munro and Mary B. (Coughlan) Munro.
He was an Industrial Mechanic for Microfibre’s in Pawtucket RI for 20 years before retiring in 1997. Before that he worked for Kaiser Aluminum and was a self-employed Quahog fisherman. After retirement and several sea cruises Flash had many RV adventures with his wife seeing a great deal of the country. Later he joined The Confederate Air Force in Lancaster Texas, participating in many Southwest Air Shows and Military “Fly Over’s”.
He was a member of the 1950 graduating class of Colt Memorial High School.
He was the loving father of Walter “Rocky” Munro (Liz) of Bristol; Denise Willingham (James) of DeSoto, Texas; Donna Parrillo (Carolyn) of Westport, MA; and Molly Binns of Warren, RI; a brother Michael Munroe of Warren, RI; Nine grandchildren, Patricia Hoehn, James R. Willingham III, Alissa and Colleen Parrillo, James Mongeon, Joshua Munro, Christopher Riley, and Kyle and Laura Sampson, and seven great-grandchildren. He was the grandfather of the late Patrick H. Hoehn. He was a honorary father figure to Eric Johnson of California. Flash was a very doting and dedicated grandfather and great grandfather and was truly loved by them all.
Calling hours will be will be at The Lobster Pot, 119 Hope Street, Bristol, RI on Saturday December 15, 2012 at 12:30 PM followed by a 2:00PM Memorial Service.
