

William F. Lynch, “Bill,” age 91, of Fall River, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Joan L. (Wolowiec) Lynch to whom he has been married for the past 66 years.
Born in Fall River, a son of the late Thomas and Gertrude (Roberts) Lynch, he was a lifelong resident of the city.
A graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, Class of 1952, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Providence College, a Master’s degree in Education from Bridgewater State University, and a second Master’s degree in History from Boston College. He was also a veteran of the United States Air Force.
A lifelong educator and historian, he began his career as a history teacher at B.M.C. Durfee High School. He also taught evening classes at Bridgewater State University and later retired as Vice Principal of Morton Junior High School.
An active communicant of Holy Name Church, he served as past president of the First Friday Club. He was a Fourth Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus and served as a Eucharistic minister, traveling to area nursing homes to administer Holy Communion to residents. In the early 1990s, he received the Marian Medal, awarded by Bishop O’Malley. He was also a member of the Clover Club and volunteered at local soup kitchens and food pantry's.
Bill was an avid reader who enjoyed spending time with his family at his cottage in Marstons Mills on Cape Cod.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, William F. Lynch, Jr. of Fall River, Michael Lynch and his wife Margaret of Portsmouth, RI, Jeffrey P. Lynch of Fall River, formerly of Virginia Beach, VA; three grandsons, U.S Navy, First Class Petty Officer Michael Lynch Jr., of Virginia Beach, VA, Patrick Lynch of Newport, and Ryan Lynch of West Chester, PA; two great-granddaughters, Regan and Kenna. He was the brother of the late Thomas and Edward Lynch.
His Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at 10:00AM in Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover St., Fall River. The family will greet guests prior to the mass in the entrance of the church from 9:15 to 9:45 AM. Contributions in his honor may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, 55 Pine St., Fall River, MA 02720. Burial private.
