

Yolande B. Laliberte, age 93, of Fall River died Friday, November 30, 2012 in the Catholic Memorial Home. Born in Fall River a daughter of the late William L. and Theodora L. (Bouley) Laliberte, she had been a lifelong resident of the city.
A graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, class of 1936, she received her Bachelor’s Degree and Masters Degree from Boston University. She also pursed graduate study in guidance and counseling from Columbia University.
At the time of her retirement from the Fall River public school system in 1980, she was Dean of Students at B.M.C. Durfee High School. Before her appointment in 1950, she had taught at Dighton High School and Attleboro High School.
She was a member of the Massachusetts and Bristol County Retired Teachers associations, Beta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society, a national honor society for women educators, the Catholic Woman’s Club, and the Sacred Heart Senior Citizens. She was a past member of the Massachusetts Association of Deans and Counselors and of the Fall River branch of the American Association of University Women. She had been active in Girl Scouting as treasurer of the Council, as a senior leader and trainer of adult leaders.
She is survived by a niece; Paula Souza, great nephew; Michael Souza and his wife Mandy and her son Dylan and brother in law; David Medeiros all of Fall River.
Her Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at 9 AM in Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover St., Fall River. Relatives and friends invited. Burial will be private. Arrangements are in the care of the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Cherry Place, Fall River.
