Frances Ann Klein Enghauser was born in Baltimore to Francis Klein, an accountant, and Violet Bastress Klein as a one and only. Ann grew up in a house on Overbrook Road with her small family, but with myriad aunts, uncles, and cousins. She attended Notre Dame of Maryland for all her basic schooling and the College of Notre Dame of Maryland for her undergraduate degree, graduating in 1952. She attended Catholic University for her Master's degree in music education.
After teaching for a while in Maryland public schools, Mom moved to NYC to shake things up a bit. There she met and married Marty Enghauser on June 11, 1960. They had four kids, boy girl boy girl: Peter (Pete), Eve, Christopher (Chris), and Marianne (Min) and they lived in Flushing, NY.
In 1974, they packed up the family with dog Jenny, and moved to Northern Virginia. They moved into a house on Foxhall Road in McLean and for 46 years it was her home. The kids grew up, went to college, moved out, had careers and life moved on as it does.
Ann is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marty in 2002, and her son Pete in 2016. She is survived by daughter-in-law, Nancy Enghauser, daughter and son-in-law, Eve and John Puleo, son, Chris Enghauser, daughter Min Enghauser; as well as grandchildren, Matthew, Rachel, Allie, and Audrey Enghauser, and Seneca, Dominick, and Eliza Puleo.
Mom loved murder mysteries, Star Trek, Christmas, Sherlock Holmes, Alfred Hitchcock, and old movies. She loved baseball, especially her Baltimore Orioles. She doted upon her cat, Monkey. She was fond of lemon, spinach, wine, and Maryland crab cakes. She delighted in feeding the birds and squirrels in her yard and having a beer with her lunch. She treasured her life-long friend Loretta Long. She loved to volunteer at her church and at the nursing home. She was devoted to her Catholic faith and went to Mass every day she was able. She cherished her home on Foxhall Road, and she especially adored her children and grandchildren.
She passed peacefully in that house, holding the hand of her beloved daughter, Min.
