Ahmad spent his formative years in Tehran, where he met his wife, Mahrokh. They married in May 1954 and became parents to Afsaneh, Azar and Iraj. He graduated from Tehran University Law School in 1960 and obtained his Master of Science in International Affairs from Georgetown University in 1977. He worked as a foreign service officer and diplomat for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for over 20 years; after the Iranian Revolution he retired and immigrated to the United States where he managed Bloomingdale’s Oriental Rug Gallery for many years.
Ahmad is preceded in death by his beloved wife Mahrokh Moshaveghzadeh, sister Maliheh Moshaveghzadeh, brother Amir Moshaveghzadeh and his parents Batool and Abbas Moshaveghzadeh.
He is survived by his three children Afsaneh Tibbs (Frank), Azar Momeni (Zekrollah), and Roger Mahach (Karen); grandchildren Arian Tibbs, Cyrus Tibbs (Julee), Sara Corrigan (James), Kian Momeni (Brittany), Kimia Momeni, Ryan Mahach and Kathryn Mahach. He also leaves behind his great grandchildren Lily and Lucy Tibbs, Zoe Corrigan, and Ellika Momeni.
The family of Ahmad Moshaveghzadeh wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Mari, Rosie, and Melba, his wonderful and devoted caretakers whose great care surely extended our father’s life, as well as Lea, his dedicated Nurse Practitioner from the Inova Medical House Calls group. We are grateful to Goodwin Hospice, their nurses, doctors, aides, and social workers who provided Ahmad, his caretakers, and our family invaluable help and support. Last, but not least, we also wish to thank Siamak Harandi, our cousin, for his support, guidance, and efforts during this difficult period.
The family will hold a private burial and memorial service on Thursday, September 14, 2023.
