Alan was born on May 19, 1945 to Harry and Essie Belkin. He grew up in Philadelphia, PA where he attended Central high school. After high school, Alan attended Temple University. Upon graduating from Temple, Alan joined a teaching program where he met his beloved Carol. They were married for 57 amazing years. Alan and Carol moved to DC where Alan attended Catholic University Columbus School of Law and they raised their two boys Paul and Aaron. He worked for the Government Accounting Office for over 30 years after graduation from law school.
After retiring, Alan and Carol traveled the world going from Alaska to Africa and everywhere in between. He will be remembered for telling great stories, turning a 1-4-6 double play, his commitment to Philadelphia sports and his deep love of family.
Alan is survived by his wife Carol, his sons Paul (Melissa) and Aaron, his brother David (Ellen) and his grandchildren Michaela, Josie, and Adon.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Foundation.
A Funeral Service will be held at National Funeral Home, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042, US, on September 8, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
A Shiva Gathering will take place at Lakelands Clubhouse, 960 Main St., Gaithersburg, MD, on September 8, 2026, at 6:00 pm.
