Albert Glenn Facey Jr.

Albert (Al) Facey, a retired electronic engineer with the Office of Secretary of Defense and an Executive with Magnavox Electronic Systems died on August 15th in his home at Falcons Landing located in Potomac Falls, VA.

He was a loving and devoted Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle & friend who enjoyed hobbies that included fishing, hunting, camping, being a handyman, enjoying a good martini, watching football especially the Redskins, and chasing his boys. He loved and was proud of the family he led, as well as being "Poppa" and dotting on his four grandsons. He was a selfless man who gave more than he took, and one of the most genuine men you would meet.

Born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in the Long Island suburbs, he attended Pratt Institute on a full-tuition scholarship where he received a Bachelor of Electronic Engineering degree. After graduation, he worked for GE until he entered the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Upon completion of his service he began a long Civil Service career until his final position with the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense where he was appointed by President Carter to be a charter member of the Senior Executive Service (SES) where he rose to the highest rank of the SES. Following retirement from the Civil Service, he spent 10 years with Magnavox and later with Integrated System Control.

He is survived by his three children, Glenn Facey (Kim), David Facey, and Alan Facey (Heidi); his four grandsons; a sister Joan Harvey (New Smyrna Beach, FL); and a brother Gene Facey (Coronado, CA).

The family will be having visitation from 6 – 8 P.M. on Friday, August 25, 2017 followed by a memorial service at 1PM on Saturday, August 26th at National Funeral Home, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA.

Flowers may be sent to National Funeral Home or in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Air Force Retired Officers Community Belevenant Fund (non-profit) in memory of Al Facey (Falcons Landing; 20522 Falcons Landing Circle; Potomac Falls, VA 20165; Attn: CFO).
