

of Vienna, VA, a loving husband, father and friend to many passed away on March 4, 2024. Al was preceded in death by his wife Dolores, of 49 years, and his parents Johana Puodziuniene and Kaziemieras Puodziunas. He is survived by his devoted daughter, Anna Marie Puodziunas.
Al immigrated to the United States with his mother as a young boy, from his native Lithuania after first moving to Austria and then Germany for several years during the war. His American journey started in Brooklyn, NY and eventually he made his way to Capitol Hill in Washington, DC where he graduated from Anacostia High School and the University of Maryland. It was in DC where he met his beloved wife, Dolores, working in the accounting department of Sears. He had a long successful career as an accountant for the Navy, which first took them to London, UK where they explored Europe in their sportscar as young newlyweds. For many years, he also had a side business with Dolores, doing accounting for several small businesses in the area, as well as owning two restaurants (in Falls Church and Richmond, VA) with business partners.
Al loved life, college basketball, his beloved Maryland Terrapins, a good party, and most of all, his family and many friends. The service will be held at Murphy Funeral Home at 1102 W. Broad St, Falls Church, VA on Saturday, March 23rd at noon, and a viewing on Friday, March 22nd from 5-8p.m. at the funeral home. Internment will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery on Monday, March 25th at 11a.m.
