Amir Houshang Farhang Motlagh of Vienna, VA peacefully ascended to the Abha Kingdom on March 8, 2023, at age 93. He is survived by his wife Rouhi; sister Farah; daughters Yasmin, Mandana, and Kamelia; sons-in-law John and Shahryar; grandchildren Shahin, Pasha, Sheila, Claudine, Lydia, Peter, and Tiffany; and great grandchildren Maxwell, Azar, Montgomery, Ava, Sophia, Giovanni, and Madeleine.
Upon moving to the United States in 1981, Farhang—an electrical engineer by training who worked for many years at the National Iranian Oil Company, the National Iranian Petrochemical Company, and the National Iranian Gas Company—began a career in real estate. He went on to establish what would eventually become a family business, today including one of his daughters and two of his grandchildren.
An active member of the Town of Vienna Baha’i Community, Farhang was known for his contagious smile, love of making and reconnecting with friends, and boundless energy. Even in his final days, he was regularly attending Baha’i feasts and gatherings, managing his real estate matters, and participating in a weekly lunch meetup with dear friends. Farhang always had a joke, story, or life lesson ready to share with anyone who would listen; of his many wonderful qualities, his wisdom and sense of humor will be missed perhaps most of all.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, March 22 at National Funeral Home, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am on Sunday, March 26 at Westwood Country Club, 800 Maple Ave E, Vienna, VA 22180. All are welcome to join; RSVPs are requested.
