
Amnon Max Salomon, a resident of Springfield, VA, passed away after a yearlong battle with ALS on October 2nd, 2020 at the age of 63 with his wife of 37 years, Davida Herschman Salomon, at his side in their home.
Amnon was born in Nahariya, Israel on December 13th, 1956 to Fred and Haviva Salomon. Amnon, his parents, and sister immigrated to La Porte, Indiana in 1961. He received his undergraduate degree from Purdue University in 1983 and his graduate degree from George Mason University in 1994.
Amnon would meet his wife, Davida, through the Hillel at Purdue University. They got married in 1983 and then moved to Virginia in 1985.
Amnon worked as a government contractor in Washington DC for over twenty years. He spent much of that time working for Northrup Grumman as a contractor at the US State Department and the United States Postal Service.
Amnon was very active in his community. He served and worked in volunteer roles such as: mentor in a transition work skills program for students with special needs in the DC Public Schools; soccer coach for the Braddock Road Youth Club; Boy Scout Leader; swim and dive official at Royal and Parliament Pools, and college professor and University of Maryland University College.
Amnon belonged to Temple B’nai Shalom in Fairfax Station, VA. He was a lifelong fisherman. He could often be found fly fishing at Burke Lake Park, in Burke VA with his three children.
Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Davida Herschman Salomon; his children Michael Salomon, Jared Salomon, and Alisha (Trevor) Flynn; mother, Haviva Salomon; siblings, Ilana Mrozinski, and Alon Salomon; and his nieces and nephews.
A funeral for Amnon’s friends and family will be held at 12 pm on Wednesday, October 7th, 2020 at the King David Memorial Garden in Falls Church, VA.
