At the age of 99, at 9:30 p. m. April 20, 2017, Andella Louise Duchon Jeffries joined her beloved husband, Jeff, in Paradise. Andella, or Ma as she is affectionately called by her daughter, Ann, and grandchildren, Jeffries, Jenny, Jimmy, Anna, Christopher, (Crink), Audrey, Flannery, Sonia, Ann Louise, and Irene, and great grandchildren, Julian, Adrian, Isabel, Violet and Archer, will forever be the matriarch of the Jeffries clan.
Her "senior superlative" listed in her Alliance High School yearbook, aptly stated, "Her heart is full of kindness." And all of us who have had the privilege of knowing Ma's heart, have been surely blessed.
The three greatest loves of Ma's life: Virgil Henry (Jeff) Jeffries, her beloved husband of 57 years, ("How I wish your Daddy were here!!!"), her loving Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren, ("I have the BEST Grandchildren in the whole world!!!), and The Baltimore Orioles (Win or lose, high 5s all around!!!)
She was strong, both in body and spirit. Still mowing her half acre yard into her 80's, cooking her gourmet meals with real Czechoslovakian flair, the dishes of her childhood, and ready to help when help was needed. Ma would never let you down. She would worry about you until everything was ok again. There is no doubt that she is praying for all of us and the entire world now. She would say, even toward the end of her earthly life: "Why can't people be kind to each other???" We would all be wise to to follow her example; this world would be a much better place.
Ma's life will be celebrated on July 31, at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Vienna, Va., followed by burial next to her beloved Jeff, at Arlington National Cemetery.
