This is such a heartbreaking and sad news which we were not expecting. I don’t know Ankit but only learned about him from the recent posts and searches organized in our local area here in Germantown MD. We all have been eagerly waiting for a happy ending but this was not meant to be. 
It was so painful to see his mother pleading for safe return of Ankit on TV, and I can’t even imagine what parents, family and friends are going through with this news. 
I hope they find the strength to cope up with this huge loss. Praying and sending positive energy to all of you. No words can really express the amount of heartache you are going through, please accept my deepest condolences.

We are deeply shocked and saddened by the untimely death of such a young and loving soul. As a family friend kids grew infront of us. No words can comfort the grieving parents and loved ones. Rest in peace love from Gills family. 

I remember spending many weekends with him during our middle school and high school years and even our random trip to New York and DC with our families. He had a contagious energy that made being around him so much fun. We used to play foosball and bumper pool in his basement all night.   Ankit was the one who introduced me to DC sports and now I’m a huge fan because of him. Although we lost touch after we went to college, his passing is still shocking to me. I will always remember the good times we had together. I hope you're doing well wherever you are and that you're resting easy. Love you bro.

I did not know Ankit other than what I heard through social media in the last few days when his family and friends rallied to search for him.  I remember walking one of the local trails in Gaithersburg hoping and praying I would come upon him…and that this story would have a happy ending.  I am so sorry for the parents and family members for this terrible loss.  No words can take the pain away for the parents that are left behind.  It’s a parent’s worse nightmare and I am so sorry that you must deal with this tragedy.  May God give you the strength to cope with this great loss.  You all are in our thoughts and prayers 🙏🏽

My condolences to the Bagai family. 

I appreciated Ankit’s sensibilities as a child when he would ask me what I was reading, and offer me company during parties when I would often sit alone.  He surprised me in 2018 when we saw each other for the first time in years and he asked me, very directly and with no pause, “where have you been?” He struck me as well-mannered and personable, and maintained his politeness as an adult as we continued to cross paths through 2019. Rarely was it confusing, always comfortable. I feel lucky to have grown up around him, and am deeply sad for what his loss means for our community and his absence for our futures. 

My memory of him will forever be rooted in his calm, kind demeanor. I am still sorry and shocked for this loss. May be rest in peace. 

My deepest condolonces go out to the dear family in these tough times. I had the pleasure of knowing ankit as a child, he was  my neighbor and my good friend for so many years. My fondest memories will always be walking over to his house and playing video games with him or foosball in his basment . As long as I’ve known him, he was such a kind, polite, well reserved and intelligent young man. He was always very particular about his time, if he had to do something he had to do it at that time, and he always stuck to what he said. Ankit, I know we haven’t spoken in so many years and I’m sorry we never kept in touch after our school years, just know you are loved by so many people and we all care about you and miss you dearly. It’s very sad to hear that a young vibrant life has been lost. My heartfelt condolences to the family 🙏

When I think of Ankit, I remember a sweet, shy boy with a gentle smile on his face. We never talked much other than usual pleasantries but he was always polite and sweet. I still remember Rakesh telling me about Ankit wanting to go to UVA and working hard to make that happen. Will remember seeing him as a very happy and proud brother at Reema's wedding. Truly grateful to have all these happy memories of Ankit. Wishing him happiness and peace in his next chapter as well.

Ankit was in my transfer class at UVA, and he was one of the first people I met when I moved into Malone House. I hadn't heard from him since I graduated ten years ago, but when I got the news of his death yesterday, a whirlwind of memories came rushing back to me: the time he invited me to watch Iron Man 3 with him, the Basshunter concert at JPJ, the NHL 13 matches we played in his apartment, all of the nights I ran across him on the Corner or at one of the local bars, our petty disputes, his Washington Capitals, Wizards, and Redskins memorabilia, etc. Although I was not around him as often as other people were and hadn't spoken to him in a decade, I still remember his distinctive voice just as it sounded then. I've been unable to get much sleep tonight because I am in complete disbelief of what has transpired.

I offer my sincerest condolences to his family and those closest to him. I cannot fathom what they are going through right now. Rest in peace, Ankit.
