June 23, 1938 - August 16, 2026
Ann C. Lumsden, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2026, at the age of 88. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, Ann will be remembered with deep respect and enduring love by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a resident of Herndon, Virginia.
Ann was the devoted wife of Donald Lumsden for 57 years, and together they shared many wonderful years. She will be deeply missed by her children, Ralph and Teri Lumsden, and Jeannette and Rich Little.
Ann was a loving grandmother, known affectionately as “Granny,” to Ryan Lumsden, Jessica Haarberg (Benjie Haarberg), Tara Lumsden, and Kayse Purks. She was also a cherished great-grandmother to Nadia Trammel (Sergio Alvarado), Taylor Batten, James Lumsden, Oakley Leake, and Logan Lumsden, and a proud great-great-grandmother to Sereno and Valentina Alvarado.
Over the years, Ann made her home in Vienna and Herndon, Virginia, as well as The Villages, Florida. She spent more than 20 years working as a nurse at Fairfax Hospital Post Partum, where her steady compassion and dedication brought comfort and care to countless families. Later, she worked at a Hallmark store in Potomac Falls, Virginia, continuing in her own quiet way to bring warmth and thoughtfulness into the lives of others.
Ann carried a creative spirit throughout her life and found joy in making things by hand. An avid quilter who also enjoyed a wide variety of crafts, she expressed her care and attentiveness through the beauty she created and the time she willingly gave. Above all, Ann will be remembered for the love she gave to her family and the many memories she created with them—gifts that will remain, generation to generation.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your local humane society in Ann’s name.
