Anna was born June 6, 1935, in Urbana, IL. She was the youngest of five kids, and the only one born in the USA, to a family of Greek immigrants. Her family owned The Olympia Café & Confectionary in Urbana, while relatives owned the Vriner Café on the Champaign side of town. Their real Greek name was Vrinios. She grew up working in the café and it is where she met her husband, Chris W. Lecos, who would come in for coffee, but mostly to flirt with her. They were married May 10, 1959 in Chicago and moved to Shorewood, WI, where Chris was a journalist with The Milwaukee Journal. They had one daughter, Andrea Lecos, who lives in Paonia, CO. In 1974 the family moved to the Falls Church, VA area to be closer to extended family.
Mrs. Lecos graduated from Urbana H.S., attended Illinois Commercial College, and later, the U. of WI (Milwaukee) studying Sociology. Her kind spirit, generosity, silly, fun and sociable personality always found her engaged in laughter and easily making friends. Anna had volunteered at a women’s shelter, assisted people with loss of sight, drove needy people to their doctor appointments and volunteered with her church – St. Katherine’s Greek Orthodox Church (Falls Church, VA) where she was a devout parishioner.
Anna had a long, fulfulling career with United Airlines, as a gate agent (Dulles International and Reagan National Airports). She played on the Airlines' softball team, traveled, and skied in Colorado. She also had a passion for live music, dancing, cultural events, animals, friends and family.. She loved her airline family and made lifelong friends.
Anna is survived by her daughter Andrea Lecos (Cory Obert), sister-in-law Mary Anne Lecos, brother-in-law Jim Lecos (Rita), sister-in-law Mary Vriner, her granddogs, plus many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Lecos, parents Louis Vriner (Athanasia), brothers George Vriner, John Vriner, sisters Dena Vlahos, Mary Angelopoulos, brother-in-laws Gus Lecos, Dan Lecos, and sister-in-law Georgia Lecos.
