Asuncion Ramos

Born in El Limón, San Francisco de Macorís, Dominican Republic, in 1945, Asuncion grew up with her mother and three siblings, learning early what it meant to be strong, determined, and unafraid to speak her mind. In 1966, she came to the United States as a domestic worker for the Llaverías family. She later returned to the Dominican Republic to marry the love of her life, her husband, Oscar A. Ramos, in 1971, and the two reunited in the U.S. in 1973 to build their life together.

Asuncion worked for many years at Inova Fairfax Hospital in L&D Housekeeping, Patient Transport for Radiology, and Material Management. She was known for her feisty spirit, her honesty, and her ability to tell it like it is — always with love behind it. She cherished time with her friends, family, and pups, and she especially loved trips to the beach and casinos.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Maria de los Santos Joaquín; her husband Oscar A. Ramos; her siblings Francisca, Máximo, and Esperanza; and her nephew Aris. She is survived by her daughter Michelle and step‑daughter Sophia, her grand pups Penny and Monchichi, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation and a memorial service will be held at National Funeral Home in Falls Church, Virginia. A separate Mass will be held at St. Philip Catholic Church at a later date. Asuncion will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and her gift for being a confidant and ally to those she loved and cared for.

Le preceden en la muerte su madre, María de los Santos Joaquín; su esposo Oscar A Ramos; sus hermanos Francisca, Máximo y Esperanza; y sus sobrino Aris. Le sobreviven su hija Michelle y su hijastra Sophia, sus perritas Penny y Monchichi, y muchos sobrinos y sobrinas.

La visita y el servicio memorial se llevarán a cabo en National Funeral Home en Falls Church, Virginia. Una Misa aparte se celebrará en St. Philip Catholic Church en una fecha posterior. Asunción será recordada por su bondad, su fortaleza y su don de ser confidente y aliada para quienes amaba y cuidaba.
