Dr. Sikri was born on March 12, 1939 in Sheikhupura, (British) India. He attended Punjab University before emigrating to the United States in 1959, where he studied Metallurgical and Chemical Engineering at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania in 1971.
He began his career in Research & Development at DuPont and Johnson & Johnson, before settling into a 30-year career working for the U.S. Government at the Department of Energy, from where he ultimately retired in 2006.
He is survived by his wife, Kiran, his children: son Anmol Prakash Sikri, married to Archana Sikri; daughter Ritika Sikri, married to Arshad Rahman; his four grandchildren: Samira, Karina, Anya, and Arik; and sister Brij Sardana.
