Audrey Shulman Nachbar

Audrey was born in New York, New York, on November 24, 1936. She graduated from Wheelock College in 1958 and upon graduation taught in elementary school in Yonkers, New York.

She married the love of her life, the late Arthur Nachbar on November 23, 1960. They were married for 63 years, living in New York, Connecticut, and finally northern Virginia. Together her and Arthur built a life centered on family, education, and a strong work ethic.

Audrey dedicated her life to caring for her family and creating a home filled with warmth, kindness, and love. She took great pride in nurturing and teaching her children as well as supporting Arthur while he built a successful orthodontics practice.

In later years she took special joy in spending time with her grandchildren, who knew her as a source of warmth, wisdom, and unconditional love.

She will be remembered for her kindness, and the care she showed through countless everyday acts—meals lovingly prepared, helping her children and grandchildren, and being there to offer comfort and advice.

Audrey is survived by her children James (Jessica) Nachbar and Caroline (Marc) Goldstrom; and grandchildren Jonathan (Jordan) Goldstrom and Elizabeth (Robert) Sullivan.

Graveside funeral services will be held on December 26, 2025, 3:00 p.m. at King David Memorial Gardens, Falls Church, Virginia. The service will take place in Section Block 18, Lot 150, Space 7. The family will be receiving visitors after the funeral on Friday and on Saturday evening (7:00 p.m.) at the home of Caroline and Marc Goldstrom.
