After graduating from Berkeley Springs High School in WV, she moved to the DC area, ultimately working for the Central Intelligence Agency. It was there that she met her husband. While stationed in Taiwan, they were married and began their family. She spent countless hours volunteering with the kids’ schools, scouting programs, and their other activities. When her youngest daughter graduated high school, Barbara took a “temporary job” running a convenience store in Woodland Hill Retirement community…for the next 25 years. Barbara enjoyed spending time with family and friends, doing puzzles, crafting, baking and cooking for others. She always had a smile, a kind word share, and a tune to hum. She was always ready to lend a hand and was happiest when with family and friends. Barbara was a strong woman. She overcame many health issues over the years, spending the last part of her life battling Alzheimer’s. Through it all, she remained cheerful and courageous. She will be greatly missed but will always in our thoughts and hearts. Family will receive visitors on Saturday, August 13, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and again on Sunday, August 14 from 11:00 a.m. to Noon, at Murphy Funeral Home, 1102 West Broad Street, Falls Church, Virginia.
