Mrs. Betty Jane Hankes Hayden, age 75, died Friday, May 22, 2015 at Carolinas Medical Center in Pineville. She was born November 24, 1939 in Oakland, CA, the daughter of the late Francis Hampton Hankes and Mabel Irene Lewis Hankes and was the wife of the late Robert Timothy Hayden. Mrs. Hayden retired from NASA as a computer engineer. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Colonial Dames and the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
Mrs. Hayden is survived by her daughter, Dr. Laurie A. Bothwell and her husband Keith Burgess and a granddaughter, Amelia Bothwell all of Bel Air, MD; a step son, Timothy Hayden and his wife Rebecca and their three children, Kaila, Reid and Karissa of Indian Land; and a brother, Lewis Hankes and his wife Mary of Ocean Isle Beach, NC.
