Beverly Rickard Edwards (Mona), wife of the late Lawrence C. Edwards, former owner of Chrysler dealerships in D.C. and northern Virginia, age 92, passed away August 6, 2020 peacefully at her home in McLean, VA.
Beverly was born on August 25, 1927 in Washington, D.C. to the late Ordway W. and Cleo C. Rickard. Beverly grew up in Washington, D.C., graduated from Anacostia High School, and was a member of Job’s Daughters International. She joined the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps and trained at American University in the Lucy Webb Hayes School of Nursing at Sibley Memorial Hospital. She worked for many doctors and dentists in the D.C. area before moving into accounting for Tops Drive Inn. After raising two children, she became an accountant and co-owner of Wells Estate Sales with her sister-in-law and dear friend, Tess Russell. Beverly was passionate about singing, playing the piano, and spending time with her family.
Beverly is survived by her daughter, Sandra Ginther (Craig) of Manassas, VA; son, Stephen Swain (and the late Teresa) of Crofton, MD; stepson Lawrence Edwards (Patrice) of Montgomery, TX; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey (Wendy), Scott (Kathy), Stephen, Kathryn (Ryan), Justin, Jennifer (John), and David; and eight great-grandchildren, Ashley, Ryan, Sarah, Abigail, Kylie, Tyler, Olivia, and Landon.
Interment will be held at Walker Chapel.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 14th. Due to COVID-19 & restrictions, the funeral will be by invitation only; if guests are interested in attending please contact Murphy Funeral home to have your name added to guest registry. The guest registry will close by Thursday, August 13th at 11 AM.
