In all the years I’ve known Candee, I’ve never seen her be unkind to anyone, never saw her hurt anyone, or anger anyone. She was all in black, spiky hair, anti-beauty, but she was also the girl next door. She was full of goodness, honesty, creativity, empathy, fun, all brought to life with a quirky sense of humor that got her and us through some bad spots. Always making art, always curious, always true to herself.
I have had so many long talks with her over the years, about things both professional and personal, about decisions made and unmade and what to do next. My life is better because she was in it, and it is hard to imagine a world without her. I will miss her terribly.
Candee my friend, I love you.

Candy is a vision of light that I was blessed to meet on a school bus to the Baltimore Museum of Art. The joint field trip that day with Oakton and Marshall High Schools is a bright moment I will never forget.
Her light left a signature on everyone’s heart she touched and her life and work are etched eternally in Universe’s light. Candy, be in peace knowing this world you left is more beautiful because of you. Your light remains in my heart.
With love, Joseph Cotten, II

Candy was my first roommate. She took me under her wing and showed me her Richmond, Va. She shared her friends and we had so many adventures together! Her love to create art was contagious and her love of fashion as well. Even tho in later years she preferred to wear black, There was always a sparkle somewhere, even if it was just in her eyes. Phil and Candy were meant for each other , he was exactly what Candy had described to me in some of our many late night talks, Im so glad they found each other. Love you Candy, you will be missed .

Candeee was my friend for almost 50 years, my bandmate for almost 40. She was part muse, part mischief-maker, always, always, always making art -- visual and musical. She was always an inspiration, but never more so than when she was diagnosed with cancer and continued to carry on with the same urge, the same passion to create. She leaves an indelible record behind, and a lot of sad friends. XO
