Of McLean, VA (Age 81) died on December 25 at Virginia Medical Center. Carmen had fallen at home and was recovering from hip surgery.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence; mother of Linda Layman-Peterson; Lawrence II (Deena); Harry (Patti); and John (Cyndi); her sister Charlotte (Raymond); her brother Harry Jr. Her parents and her brother, John, preceded her in death. She was the grandmother of 11 and great-grandmother of 10.
She was a Navy wife and registered nurse. During her nursing career she worked a number of hospitals in CA, AL and VA as the family followed Lawrence on his varied navy assignments. She was often a single parent as his navy deployments occurred frequently.
Carmen will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery. Those arrangements will be provided when they become available.
