

Born in Capitol Heights, Maryland on March 6, 1935 to Coney and Eleanor Owen, Raised in Friendly, Maryland, Carol was a graduate of Oxon Hill High School and lived most of her adult life in Oxon Hill. She inherited a penchant for visual arts and was a hobbyist draftswoman. She worked as a secretary at the Naval Research Laboratory before shifting her focus to raising her family. She loved singing hymns in the church choir, playing piano for the children’s choir, and volunteering with various other church ministries as well as her children’s high school. Later, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Carol is survived by her husband Frank, her children, Suzanne (Allen), Lynette (Steve), and Forrest (Jodi), her sister Marilyn, her eight grandchildren, to whom she was lovingly known as Grandmom andMommala: Matthew (Michelle), Diana (Rory), Megan (Dylan), Julia (Aaron), Charlotte, Owen, Alex, and Jacob, and was blessed to know nine of her great-grandchildren: Emery, Miriam, Luke, Margaret, Judah, Talia, Micah, Lawrence, and Clara.
Carol’s family will cherish the memory of her vivid mind, conscientiousness, and quick wit.
