God bless Rich! I think of Rich and Jill frequently and very often recall fond times with them in sharing stories with family and friends- including sharing some fond memories with my family just a few days ago.

Hard to believe a year has passed. Think of Carter/ Rich  all of the time and always seem to have a fun story to share of the fun times with Rich and Jill, with friends.

Jill, my deepest sympathy's ,  I just learned this week. A great loss to all. Rich was a person I really liked and respected. A Vietnam vet, a great police officer and a fine friend. He will be missed. 12 2 2019

What a great loss. I was 13 or 14 when I knew his first wife and him. He drove a Vega and is kids thought he was great. From our apt we could see when he came home and my dad always looked out for him. He would sit out in the summer and tell us about the police dept. I was asking about him and found out he had passed. His first wife was a airline hostess and they have us kids 45 records all the time. Sorry to hear this. That whole complex was torn down years ago. Have lived in la for decades and just came back here. Good  day to his wife and whoever else loves on. A great guy is gone but will always remember his young looks.

My Dad, Joe, and Carter worked together at MPDC.  They used to ride in together, especially during bad weather when it was too cold or wet for my Dad to ride his motorcycle.  I've known Carter since I was about 10 years old or so, so from the late 70's.  I remember the cookouts at his house when I was a kid and the adults unwinding and enjoying themselves, all provided from the kindness of his and Jill's hearts.  Once he was giving me some grief about my long hair or little boy looks.  For some reason, I looked at him, looked up at the moon and howled.  He thought that was the funniest thing, I'll never forget that laugh.  From then on, most every time I saw him, he would ask if I still howled at the moon.  To me, as a kid, growing up around him, he was a little rough around the edges but he was always very loving and kind to me.  I do recall seeing his face when he realized I put the "Go Redskins" sticker on the back of his Jeep.  Bright Red does not explain it well enough.  Jill, prayers to you in your time of grief.  He will be missed by many people from many different places in this world.

I met Rich in 1989 when I moved to the same neighborhood.   Rich and Jill became dear friends and we enjoyed spending much time together whether at each other's home; parties and events; dinners at the former Alpine; Rollerblading  (yes) on the old rails to trails that cut through our neighborhood; going to his camp in WVA. We loved to watch our Dallas  Cowboys play, watch the then Big East WVU- SU games  and pretty much watch  any sports and action movies or westerns.

Rich and Jill also were second 'parents' to my dog as they were to other friends with dogs.

Rich was a great person, loved his family and country and loved to hunt and fish and take trips, especially to Aruba. He was a great volunteer to others and had a HUGE heart.  He is dearly missed and no doubt in great care in Heaven!

I have know Carter since 1970 when we were Officers in the Second Police District, Metropolitan Police Department. Later in our careers I was his Sergeant in the Electronic Surveillance Unit. We were good friends started in NATIA together   Lots of memories. Good friend and good cop. He will be missed. 

Carter Richardson was my NATIA Staff boss for over 25 years. I worked closely with him at the NATIA Exhibitor Registration Booth and a few years at the Package Booth (Exhibitors and Attendee to pick up their stuff bags). Carter was very particular about security rules/policy and people. He is going to be missed dearly at NATIA. Rule number 1. Do not cross Carter. If you do, boy you would hear it all week long and some from Carter. He never put up with anyone’s bologna. I loved him dearly. I loved the way he carried himself. What you see is the real deal. Never allowed anyone to disrespect. He loved his alien tee shirts and any tee shirt that had some kind of saying on it. He always found the coolest tee shirts I ever saw. Words cannot express how deeply sadden I am today. I'm sure everyone who knew Carter is at a loss. I will forever keep him in my heart. Carter renamed my name to: "Lynda MAC". Funny, I can still remember his voice, like yesterday, yelling it. Carter always checked in on my mom who became everyones mom at NATIA. Mom sends healing prayers. Carter always made sure mom and I got in safe and that all was okay with our room, etc. Jill, our prayers go out to you and your family and friends. I am so sorry to hear of your dear loss. I am very deeply sadden. Carter was an awesome person. Thank you Jill for sharing him with us and the NATIA Family. Cater will never be forgotten! God bless you Carter. Thank you for your friendship. I know by now you must have found billions of aliens. You’re now free to roam the whole wide world!!! So watch out world. Carter, until we meet again!!!! God be with thee. Thoughts and prayers to the Richardson family.  Rich will be missed at the NATIA events and beyond.

I am sorry to hear of Rich's passing.  He was always positive and cheerful and you could tell he was a down to earth good person.  My condolences to the family and I know you will have a million great memories to share with each other.

My heart is very sad. My memories start with every year him giving me heck to get into NATIA Nationals! I always had my badge and he would stop me everytime and act like I was just trying to sneak in. Also he always wore the best shirts with sayings! NATIA will be so different this year. My thoughts and prayers to all who loved this great man.

It is sad to hear that Brother Carter  Richardson is no longer hear with us physically, but certainly he will always be in our hearts, and will always be remembered by those that had the pleasure of knowing him.   Carter and I worked for many years together in Morals Division and we were founding members of NATIA.   Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jill.   Words cannot express the sorrow that we all feel at this time.   Carter, God bless you, my Brother.

Brother Speed

I first met Rich when we were police officers with the Metropolitan Police Department (Washington, DC). We both were assigned on the same day to the Second District (2D) Vice Unit as Investigators, in March 1973. Rich and I worked closely together for the next three years sharing many adventures on/off duty during those days/nights. We got to know each other quite well professionally/personally. Rich was a very good detective and a most reliable partner. Sorry to hear of his passing.
