
Passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 in St. Petersburg, FL. He was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma and worked in Boston, MA before moving to Vienna, VA, where he lived for 42 years before moving to St. Petersburg, FL.
He worked as a Systems Analyst for Computer Sciences Corporation and the Analytical Sciences Corp. He received his Bachelors from The University of Tulsa, Masters from Harvard and PhD from Oklahoma University. He was an avid bridge player who accumulated an impressive number of Master points throughout his many years of playing local, regional and national tournaments. He served as the Treasurer for the St. Elizabeths bridge program and was also Treasurer for the 5:30 Investment Club, both of which he belonged to for over 40 years. He was kind and generous with a witty sense of humor.
He was pre-deceased by his wife, Nancy-Ruth Fain, his sister, Betty Jean Carr, two nephews, and a niece. He is survived by his children, Nancy Elizabeth "Betsy" Sanderbeck of St. Petersburg, FL and John William "Billy" Fain and his wife Michelle of Manassas, VA, two grandchildren, Stephanie Sanderbeck and Brad Fain, two step grandchildren, Christopher Mangolas and Justin Mangolas, two step great-grandchildren and eight nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 11 at 11 a.m. at the Money & King Funeral Home, 171 W. Maple Ave., Vienna, VA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at National Memorial Park at 12 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Suncoast Hospice Foundation.
