

Charles was born June 29, 1934, son of Arthur Marshall Mock and Lillie Estelle Windsor Mock, both of which have preceded him in death. He was married to Helen Ione Dye at Good Hope Baptist Church April 17, 1960 on Easter Sunday in Reedy, West Virginia. They have three children: Curtis Nolan born July 7, 1963, Charles Wallace born March 29, 1966 and Cindy Grace born March 5, 1970 all of whom have survived him.
Growing up in a family of nine children was quite an active childhood with many childhood memories which he cherished and spoke of them over and over.
He was also preceded in death by four brothers: William Henry, Arthur Elmer, Calvin Marshall and Arthur Marshall, Jr. Also, three sisters preceded him in death: Audrey Mae, Elizabeth Ann and Lillie Estelle. He leaves one brother, John Lee, and several nieces and nephews.
Charles started his career at the young age of 16. He started work at Army-Navy Country Club as a greenskeeper in 1950. He greatly impressed his boss so much that he made him his assistant after one year. When his boss, Mr. Jim Thomas, retired, Charles was promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Greens Fairfax Course in 1966. He worked there until 1994 when he retired and was rehired as a contractor for two years and retiring June 1996 with 46 years.
He was a member of the Mid-Atlantic Golf Association for years and is still a Class A member of Environmental Institute for Golf. He has served on the staff of PGA tournaments in this area.
Charles was a member of Columbia Baptist Church for over 50 years and prior to that a member of Clarendon Baptist Church where he met his wife Helen
