Cornelio Mahilom Maghacot

Pastor Jessie Maghacot, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, pastor, mentor, and faithful servant of God, passed away on May 10, 2026, while in Houston, Texas, on a church mission trip for Jesus Is Lord Church.

Pastor Jessie was born in Tondo, Manila, Philippines, to Petronila and Cornelio Maghacot Sr. He was the youngest of four children. From his early years, his life reflected humility, perseverance, faith, and a deep commitment to serving others.

He graduated from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines in 1982 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. Before entering full-time ministry, he served as a Livelihood Specialist with the National Housing Authority from 1984 to 1987, where he supported programs that helped communities and families.

Pastor Jessie’s journey of faith began on May 29, 1980, when he was born again at Jesus Is Lord Church at Mapa High School. From that moment forward, he devoted his life to the Lord and to the advancement of the Gospel.

In his early years of church service, Pastor Jessie faithfully served as a member of the setup team, bringing chairs down for the people of God before services. This humble act of service became a cherished part of his story, and others affectionately joked that his first church title was “Chairman.” Before he led churches and preached behind pulpits, he served behind the scenes with joy, humility, and faithfulness.

As Scripture says, “Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful” 1 Corinthians 4:2. Pastor Jessie’s life reflected that kind of faithful stewardship. He was faithful in small tasks, faithful in hidden service, faithful in leadership, and faithful to the calling God placed upon his life.

A funeral service will take place at External Service Location, 2148 Gallows Rd, Dunn Loring, VA 22027, US, on May 17, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm.  

A committal service will be held at National Memorial Park, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042, US, on May 18, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
