Born to Stephen and Mary (Malloy) in Washington DC in 1943, he spent his entire life in the Metro DC area. He began a 36 year career at McArdle Printing Company in 1966 where he started as Customer Service Representative. He retired as the Production Manager where he was remembered for his high standards and work ethic. He married his first wife, Linda (Hornaday) in 1967 with whom he had one son, Sean. Dave and Linda were married under her passing in 2001.
His career at McArdle was paused in 1968 when he was drafted to serve his country in Vietnam. Afterward he continued his service in the United States Army with a tour in Germany.
David’s second chapter in life began in 2006 when he remarried to Mary (Linehan). They spent their time together travelling around the U.S. and internationally, hosting friends and family at their home, and spending time with their grandchildren and step grandchildren.
David loved all Washington sports teams, especially the (Redskins) Commanders, and the Nationals. He loved golf and his annual trips to Myrtle Beach to play with friends. Many remember him to be a man of many stories, straightforward, but kind with a dry sense of humor. He was devoted to all family and he could always be counted on.
David was predeceased by his parents, Stephen (1998) and Mary (2014), his first wife, Linda (2001), his sister, Stephanie (2017), and his stepson, Dan Fissell (2010). He is survived by his wife, Mary (Linehan) of Falls Church, VA, his son, Sean (Jolie) of West Caldwell, NJ, his grandchildren, Portia and Myles, his stepdaughter Kristine Simpkins (Joey) of Christiansburg, VA and step-grandchildren, Hannah, Connor, and Logan, brother James Cina of Rapid City, SD, his sister, Marguerite Bowman of Chester, MD, and uncle, William Malloy of Kensington, MD, cousins, Ann, Joseph, and Tom Parker along with a large extended family.
Viewings will be held at Murphy Funeral Home in Falls Church, VA on Sunday October 22 from 2pm to 4pm and from 6pm to 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Our Lady Queen of Peace in Arlington, VA on Monday October 23 at 11am.
