Dennis was born on August 11, 1942, and raised by his loving parents, “Doc” and Ethel Clague. He grew up loving opera and tennis, passions that remained with him throughout his life. He was also passionate about mathematics, and his doctoral thesis was so ground-breaking in Australia that he had to have it judged in the United States. It remains online in college archives to this day.
He emigrated to the United States with his beloved wife, Annette, and there they raised their three children, Darren, Leona and David. He remained vehemently attached to his Australian roots, and kept the family connected to their heritage through multiple visits, many stories, and keeping close connection with his dear friends in Adelaide.
Dennis is survived by his wife of sixty years, Annette; his children, Darren (Angela); and Leona (Yoni); daughter-in-law Shani; grandchildren, Drew, Annabelle, Katie and Dan, and siblings Meredyth (Trevor), Craig (Trish) and Kent (Janelle). He was preceded in death by his beloved son, David, whom he will be inurned beside. The family celebrates the life of a man with a wicked one-handed backhand, cutting wit, and fierce devotion to Man U and his family.
Please join us to celebrate Dennis’s life at 10:00am on Tuesday, 10 December 2024 at National Memorial Park in Falls Church, Virginia. In lieu of flowers and should friends desire, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research hospital.
