
Devoted son, brother, and uncle, Dermot M. Meehan, died unexpectedly on January 8th, 2015. Dermot, 54, a native of Vienna, Va., attended Our Lady of Good Counsel elementary school, and Saint John’s Military High School, Washington, D.C.
For all who knew him, Dermot was extremely generous, kind-hearted, witty, and courageous. Employed as a Systems Administrator for General Dynamics, he contracted for the United States Government throughout his professional life. In 1980, Dermot enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, and honorably served his country as an Aviation Ordanceman. Dermot enjoyed the outdoors, the performing arts, reading, computers, but most of all sketching and drawing. Active in the local art community, Dermot was an accomplished animator and painter.
Dermot was the son of John F. Meehan (deceased), and Elizabeth C. Meehan. He is also survived by two sisters Moira A. Satre (Scott), Aileen C. Alicandri (John), two brothers Myles P. Meehan, Niall E. Meehan (Terri), and many nieces and nephews. A wake will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 8601 Wolftrap Road, Vienna, Va, from 6p.m.-8p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 15. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, on Jan. 16 at 10:30a.m. A private burial will be held at a later date.
