On Thursday, July 3, 2014 of McLean, VA. Predeceased by beloved husband of 62 years Roger E. Furey and brothers Joe and Bobby of Pennsylvania. Survived by sister Anna Lynch. Loving mother of Cheryl, Roger, Michael, Ann, Peter, Mary Ruth, Dorothy, Kathleen, John and Eileen; grandmother of 32 and great-grandmother of 12. Dottie's greatest loves were her faith and her family. Close behind that was her communion with nature as she planted, weeded, and grew a spectacular garden. Later in life she developed an affinity for quilting and enjoyed her time with a quilting club in McLean. Her passions are an extension of her great Catholic faith. When she soldiered through an earlier bout with cancer she developed a love for the Divine Mercy through her prayers and dedication to Blessed Faustina. She oftentimes attributed her remarkable recovery to that saint. Although, Dottie spent most of her time raising 10 children, she enjoyed working several years at the Office for Family Life in Arlington Catholic Diocese, drawing on her passion for faith and family. In living out her belief that simple is better she became a member of the Secular Franciscan Order, and shared in the joy of that relationship for many decades. Broad St. (Rt.7) on Thursday, July 10 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. with prayers at 3:30 and 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, July 11 at 11 a.m. at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, 6420 Linway Terrace, McLean, VA.
