Elaine Louise LaToza

Elaine was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Marjorie Elaine (née Homolak) Gibbons and John Henry Gibbons, Jr. She graduated valedictorian from Parma Senior High in 1970, National Merit Scholar. She graduated from Valparaiso University in 1974 majoring in Mathematics. Elaine spent most of her career doing software engineering for companies such as Time Life, Santa Fe Railroad, ANR/Michigan Consolidated Gas, and Lucent Technologies.

Elaine married Kenneth LaToza in 1976 in Cleveland, Ohio. Elaine and Ken moved frequently and lived in Woodridge, Evanston, and Naperville, Illinois, Westland and Livonia, Michigan, Redmond, Washington, and finally in Falls Church, Virginia where they live with their sons and family.

Elaine loved reading, doing genealogical research, taking photos, being a neighborhood organizer, and participating in church-based activities. She was the family archivist and has documented much of her families’ genealogical records and photographs.

Elaine is survived by her husband Kenneth Charles, sons Paul and Thomas, daughter-in-law Huimin Chen, and granddaughters Ada and Ana. Elaine is also survived by sister Susan George, and brothers John (Jack) Gibbons and wife Wendy, and Ronald Gibbons and wife Alice (Ginger) Sheridan.

A celebration of life service for Elaine is planned at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Vienna, Virginia on June 13 at 10:30 AM (EDT).
